Showers

You may not have ever had the chance to jump off of a cliff from 50 feet, but I must tell you, it's heart-wrenching.  Standing on the edge feeling the wind gust across your face does nothing but make your heart race.  You know that eventually you will have to take that wretched leap but your body is telling you, "no."  As seconds pass like hours you begin to wonder if you're still within reality or if it is just a dream.  Then, with a sudden change inside, you leap!  You instantly regret your decision but, unfortunatly, there's no turning back.  And, just as you begin to think, "I should have hit the water by now," your feet give way and your are in total darkness and confusion beneath the depths (10 feet).

I realized that this is my daily thought every time I step into the shower.  Although not using hot water is great for cooling down in this heat, I have to pass through this guantlet, that is: the plunge into a freezing shower - Oh what a way to start my day.

  1. I'm commenting backwards through your posts, and now I'm understanding the whole not having water to shower. Little bit humid, little bit hot, little bit sweaty Luke. Gotcha.

Yeah, and there was no such thing as a cold shower in the cave. It was like a hot spring in there. How different.
