Probably one of the best things that I've seen so far since moving to Venezuela. So, let's start with the basics. People here are very forthright here with physical touch in public and this can lead to some very interesting situations - queue today's bus ride with the couple in front of me.
It started off with the businesslike couple stepping onto the bus which instantly raised the dress code of the bus. Kinda funny how a rickety old bus looks while everyone bobbing back and forth and two business people are trying to maintain some level of sophistication (good luck). The only sad thing about today's experience was that this fine couple was separated, just one small swaying seat away. She was staring up to him and he was leaning over towards her. Oh, what a shame, such love, separated by such a rusty seat.
Then, with a miracle of love the unthinkable happened. A seat opened, enough for two, side by side, next to the window, one seat from back of the bus, this is perfect. He moved in first with a wink of his eye, she quickly followed with a lean towards his shoulder. Looked harmless enough, just a couple sharing a bumpy ride towards the center of town.
Have you ever seen a 2 yr old who is just going to town on his pacifier? The slippery piece of rubber squeaking all around in his mouth as he tries to both chew and suck on the tasteless toy. I assume it's quite the sound.
Although, I've never had this experience I think I came utterly close today. Funny how his eyes were never fixed on her and he used pure feeling as his guide. Instead, he scanned the rest of the bus for potential threats; not the best approach for love, but it seemed to work. How blessed I was, as by result of pure chance, to be the lucky man sitting directly by this fine couple and I soon had a front row view of . . . . .'The Make-Out'
