"I'm not here to learn about your culture, i'm here to show you mine . . . . ."
It was startling how much power this statement held as I heard it walking the Calle de Hambre. I was also saddened as I remembered just how selfish I can be at times and what kind of a place I come from. How it can change you when you truly ponder the other people & places in the world and try to see things through their eyes. Not simply seeing their world through our western lens but actually meeting them where they are and seeing life as they do on a day to day basis. Challenging when i think about it. Thank you Oscar, my time here has been changed for the better. . . .
