Roto

As it is with all countries there’s a time when you realize, “I’m not in Kansas anymore.”  The wonderful thing for me was that I didn’t have to wait very long; in fact, I was introduced to the Real Venezuela 4 hours after landing.

150 km taxi ride through the highlands of Venezuela should have only been 1 ½ hours.  We left at midnight, by 3:00 I was beginning to wonder.  Then the anticipated happened.  With a sputter and cough the car was done and we began the final descent down the last hill before rolling to a stop.  This should be interesting – we’re a good distance from home and it’s 3:45 am.  “Welcome to Venezuela”
